Donde Voy

Companion piece to Donde Vas. I was looking through artist Samuel Barrera’s website the other day and came across this. He has lots and lots of fantastic artwork (fantasy is a key word, here), do go look for yourself! He was kind enough to give us permission to use Donde Vas for the album cover. (Yes, we had permission!!!)

Here’s the website, should you want to go and look for yourself:  http://samuelbarrera.com/

Donde Vas

Yes. I know we’ve been talking about this album for a long time, and promising it would be out soon. Why would you believe me now? Well, the hold up (part of the hold up) was that one song needed resung, and we had to wait for me to visit Ohio again, from Mexico. Which has been done. It’s nearly ready. I have in my hand (well, not literally in my hand at the moment) a mix that’s nearly done. Just a few tweaks.
And I know you’ve been waiting for it. A historic reunion of the original band! Dave Smith on drums, Dave Harms on guitar and vocals, and me (Cher Bibler) on bass and vocals (though some of my bass playing was so bad it got overdubbed, story of my life!!!!). We got together last summer in Columbus, and it was fun. Really fun. I didn’t know what to expect, going into it, but it turned out to be a fantastic time. We did some really exciting stuff.

The cover is from a painting by Mexican artist Samuel Barrera, called (obviously) Donde Vas, and we adopted the name for the album, cause it just seemed to suit. There’s a little play on words here, Donde is a cookie and cracker maker down here (Merida), so that’s why the animal cracker. Anyways, Samuel was kind enough to give us permission to use the painting, though he probably wonders (like everyone else) where the heck the finished product is.

Well, hey. It’ll be here soon. Soonish. It all depends on the mixing, which seems like it should be easy to me, but listening to all the moaning and complaining, and then having to listen to mix after mix….well. Guess not.

Soonish. Yeah.
